Orlando Wetlands

I've been dabbling in photography for the last few years, and it's become a creative pursuit and also my meditation. When I'm in the woods or wetlands, I am completely in the moment, something that's always been impossible for me. As a poet, I'm usually looking back, and as a Type A, I am looking ahead and planning.

So it was such a pleasure to win an award in the Orange Audubon Society's annual photo contest for this shot of a friendly scrub jay in Lyonia Preserve in Deltona. This bird was enchanted by my bright blue cap and was very curious. But no more curious than I.
