Enriched Beyond Words

When talented poet Saumya Choudhury of the Delhi Poetry Slam emailed me out of the blue from India and invited me to join her World Poetry Project online residency, I was overwhelmed and a tad nervous. I’m so glad I said YES!

Saumya and her sister, Sristy, were welcoming hosts. I was immersed for hours in the striking work of poets in India and elsewhere, and I humbly shared some of my own poems.

As part of the project, poems from each of us were gathered in the anthology Across Latitude & Language: World Poetry Anthology 2025. I am honored that they chose to include my poem “Cocoa Beach,” a pantoum about violence against women. I’m grateful to have been part of A Journey of 100 Poets and for all my new friends.

I’m not sure how Saumya came across my poetry, but I am happy she did. You never know who might be reading your work.
